It is here the Montgomery family showed inspired judgement when they laid the foundations of Fort Royal Hotel in 1820. A beautiful situation by the shoreline of Lough Swilly, Co. Donegal’s great sea lake, gives Fort Royal natural advantages - not only fine views and invigorating air but magnificent sandy beaches for swimming and sporting. Today, Fort Royal is an impressive three-star hotel, now in the careful hands of Tim and Tina Fletcher whose eye for location and flair for hospitality must exceed even that of the founding family.
